Spooky walk through Pine Street Woods this Saturday

I’ve spent most of my life in northeastern Washington and graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2021. After that, I spent roughly two years working for a small online newspaper in North Seattle before realizing big city living wasn’t for me. Me and my pup, Kodak, headed east, where we eventually landed in Sandpoint. When I’m not writing, you can find me spending time exercising and taking photos. I ran two half marathons in high school and after spending the past few years recovering from various injuries, I’m hoping to complete my first full marathon by the end of the year. I also love any outdoor activity, none of which would be complete without my dog. Kodak and I love going for walks and hikes, and I can’t wait to try to convince him to get in my kayak and spend the hot months of the year on Lake Pend Oreille. While he’s not a fan of baths, he sure does love chasing the ducks. | October 27, 2023 1:00 AM
Ever wondered about the creatures that lurk in the Pine Street Woods just out of sight?
This Saturday, join Kaniksu Land Trust on a haunted walk for their Spooky Spirits and Stories event to learn just what those creatures do when no one’s around. This family-friendly event is safe for most ages.
“The spooky level is not high, but more magical and mystical,” said Kaniksu staff member Brianna Larson.
Follow a narrator through the woods as they tell the tales of all that live in the forest. Actors will be placed throughout the trail to enhance the storyline. While the trail will not be completely dark, Larson said it will be dim enough to feel spooky. Each walk will last roughly 15-20 minutes.
Face painting will be available for children as well as hot cocoa and cider to keep guests warm. Attendees are welcome to wear costumes if they choose.
The event, which will take place from 7 to 9 p.m., is free to the public, although donations are greatly appreciated.
