Vikings blank Sandpoint

SANDPOINT — Sophomore Caden Symons threw for 228 yards in his first varsity start, and the Coeur d’Alene Vikings scored twice in the first seven minutes en route to a 19-0 victory over the Sandpoint Bulldogs in nonleague play Friday night at Barlow Stadium

Owen Harris scored on a 4-yard run and Carsen Speelman, who didn’t play last week, scored on a 70-yard run for Coeur d’Alene (2-1). Speelman finished with 130 yards on 10 carries, and Harris ran 12 times for 62 yards.

Symons completed 19 of 30 passes.

The Vikings sacked Sandpoint quarterback Hunter Garcia in the end zone for a safety in the second quarter and a 16-0 lead. Jayson Cady added a 26-yard field goal as Coeur d’Alene did all its scoring in the first half.

Tucker Booth had four catches for 61 yards for Coeur d’Alene

Sandpoint (0-2) was 0-for-2 inside the red zone on the night.

Bulldog star Max Frank, who missed last week’s loss to Post Falls with an ankle injury, ran for 34 yards on nine carries, and caught two passes for 45 yards.

Coeur d’Alene has a bye next week, then plays host to Lakeland on Sept. 15

Sandpoint will head to Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula to face Raymond (Alberta) next Friday.
