Lums set tryouts for AA Legion team this week

COEUR d'ALENE — The Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen class AA American Legion baseball team has scheduled tryouts for next summer's squad for Thursday, Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. at Lake City High.

Players from all area high schools are eligible to try out, as the Lums are the lone AA Legion program north of Lewiston.

A makeup day for tryouts is set for Sunday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. at Thorco Field, for those unable to attend the Thursday tryout.

Gonzaga men to host Kraziness in the Kennel on Oct. 7

SPOKANE — Gonzaga's men's basketball team will host Kraziness in the Kennel on Oct. 7 at 3 p.m., with doors opening one hour prior to the event.

Kraziness in the Kennel will be the first look at the 2023-24 men's basketball team. While the event remains free to attend, Kraziness in the Kennel will be a ticketed event with attendees needing to claim a ticket for entry.

A limited number of tickets will be made available to the general public. Details on how to claim tickets to Kraziness in the Kennel will be posted on www.gozags.com at a later date.

Gonzaga women to host FanFest on Oct. 14

SPOKANE — Gonzaga's women's basketball team will host FanFest in the Kennel on Oct. 14 at 3 p.m., with doors opening one hour prior to the event.

The annual event includes player and coaching staff introductions, along with contests on the court. Tickets will not be required to attend the event.

FanFest will be the public's first look at the 2023-24 women's basketball team that returns 11 players and welcomes three new faces. The Zags closed the 2022-23 season with their 18th WCC regular season title and their 14th NCAA Tournament appearance.
