EPHRATA — Inspections of wooden power poles owned by the Grant County Public Utility District will begin Sept. 12 in Moses Lake, George and Soap Lake, according to a PUD press release.
The contractor, Alamon, will be inspecting power poles for damage and any signs of wood rot, which will require digging around the base of the poles, the release said. Some poles are on private property.
“The inspections allow us to identify weak poles and replace them before they fail, reducing power outages and ensuring safer, more reliable service,” it said.
Alamon employees will be wearing photo identification and vests that identify them as PUD contractors. Vehicles will be identified as belonging to PUD contractors as well, the release said.
