Plains Trotters fall to Loyloa, 3-1

This was quite possibly a match up of two of the best teams in the Western B volleyball conference this year.
Both were coming off solid performances in the Mission Invitational tournament last week in St. Ignatius, and both feature tall, athletic teams.
When the dust settled in Missoula last Thursday night, Loyola Sacred heart walked away with a 3-1 win over the Trotters, who showed they are vastly improved from last year.
The Trotters won the opening set 25-18 as they continued to raise a few eyebrows with their play so far this year.
However, Loyola also fields a tall and talented team and that was on display when they squared the match at one game apiece with a 25-18 win of their own.
At that point, this looked to be a potential five-setter, but the home team cranked it up a gear and won the third set by a convincing 25-11 count, giving them a 2-1 match lead.
They continued their elevated level of play in set number four as they outscored the Trotters 25-13 to complete the four-set win.
Next up for the Trotters is a pair of road matches, including this Thursday (Sept 7) at Mission in St. Ignatius, followed by a trip to Superior for a meeting with the Lady Bobcats.
