Burn permits available in Shoshone County

The Shoshone County Fire Chiefs Association has determined it is time to lower fire danger from high to moderate.

With the move, fire safety burn permits for yard debris piles and burn barrels are available for issue.

Burners are responsible for acquiring and adhering to the requirements of the permit. Be aware that grass, pine needles and other fine fuels around your burn site might be wet from rain or morning dew, but can dry in as little as one hour and be ready to burn.

Permit systems inform fire managers where burns are occurring, reducing false reports and conserving firefighting resources.

If evidence of your burn is highly visible, such as near town or a highly trafficked roadway, also consider calling your local fire department before you burn.
