The Troy High School varsity volleyball teams’ season-opener against Noxon began well with a first-set win before the visitors won the next three.

The Lady Trojans saw a 15-12 lead in the first become a 16-15 deficit, prompting Troy head coach Jordan Graves to call timeout.

Troy responded to take a 20-18 lead and Noxon called timeout.

But the Lady Trojans got two aces and six straight points from junior Libero Leslie Gravier. Sophomore outside hitter Mellisa Laffoon also delivered a big kill against two Noxon blockers.

But the Lady Red Devils dominated the next three sets, winning 25-14, 25-14 and 25-11.

Troy hosted Arlee Saturday and played at Noxon Tuesday. The Lady Trojans return to action at home on Sept. 14 against Eureka.
