PREP VOLLEYBALL: 4A Lakeland picks off another 5A foe

RATHDRUM — 4A Lakeland notched its second win over a 5A school in six days, taking down Lewiston 25-18, 25-22, 25-10 in Inland Empire League play Tuesday night at Hawk Court.

Sophomore Alyssa Ryckman had 11 kills and eight digs for Lakeland (8-3, 2-1 IEL). Ziya Munyer had nine kills and eight blocks, Landree Simon 10 kills, Olivia Zazuetta 18 assists, Ella Terzulli 14 assists, Addy Hocking 16 digs, Alexis Hanna seven digs, Chloe Neff three aces.

“Good win tonight,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “It took a while to get our rhythm but we kicked it in and got the job done. Chloe came in with some great serves during a clutch time. Our setters were able to mix up the sets and our tempo is getting better.”

Lewiston is 0-2 in league.

Lakeland hosts a tri-match on Thursday, facing Timberlake at 4 p.m. and Coeur d’Alene at 7.

COEUR d’ALENE — The host Timberwolves swept the Bulldogs 25-13, 25-18, 25-23 in nonleague play on senior night.

Junior Daphne Neeley had 14 digs for Lake City (2-4). Ava Johnson had eight kills, Jess Wilson seven kills, Taylor Winey 22 assists, Kensey Wolfrom-Knoll four aces.

“The pieces came together more consistently tonight,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said, “which made for a wonderful senior night celebration. Very proud of our team dynamic tonight, and looking forward to continuing to build momentum.”

Sandpoint is 2-4.

Lake City plays host to Moscow on Thursday.

Coeur d’Alene

COEUR d’ALENE — Ava Durgan, a 6-foot-3 junior middle blocker who has verbally committed to the University of San Diego, had eight kills and six blocks as the Panthers (2-0) handed the Vikings (13-2) just their second loss, in nonleague play at Viking Court.

“They were really scrappy and dug a lot of balls,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said of Mead. “We had a hard time putting the ball down against them. We were trying to work around their big block.”

Junior Lizzy Hardy had 13 assists and 11 digs for Coeur d’Alene.

“Tonight she had a lot of balls come her way, and did a good job handing them,” Curtis said. “She did a good job stringing together points for us with her serves.”

Paisley Goings had eight kills, Gia Janke six for Coeur d’Alene. Bailey Jaworski had nine assists, Gracie Legg 11 digs for the Vikings.

Romy Tyler added eight kills and three aces for Mead. Brielle Wilson had 25 assists, Janae Demant 17 digs for the Panthers.

Coeur d’Alene plays a tri-match at Lakeland on Thursday, facing Timberlake at 5:30 p.m. and the host Hawks at 7.

CLARK FORK — Senior Linley Howard had 10 kills and 10 digs as the visiting Tigers swept the Wampus Cats 25-17, 25-21, 25-16 in nonleague play.

Amarijana Olivieri had seven kills, seven digs and two aces for Timberlake (2-3), Jozee MacArthur 25 assists and two aces, Maci Sandbank 15 digs and five kills.

Clark Fork is 5-3.

Timberlake hosts a tournament Saturday in Spirit Lake.

St. Maries

KELLOGG — The host Wildcats defeated the Lumberjacks 25-19, 17-25, 25-23, 25-17 in Central Idaho League play at Andrews Gymnasium.

Kellogg is 3-1, 1-0 CIL.

St. Maries (1-1 CIL) plays at Logos on Thursday.

PLUMMER — Sophomore Aubrey Birdsell had 23 assists, eight digs and two aces for the Miners in a 25-18, 25-15, 25-13 Scenic Idaho Conference win over the Knights at Ron Miller Court.

Sophomore Megan Hull had nine kills, senior Britany Phillips seven aces and five kills and senior Tia Hendrick eight kills for Wallace (7-0, 3-0 SIC), which competes in the Rosalia tournament on Saturday.

Lakeside (1-4, 0-2) faces Genesis Prep next Tuesday at The Courts.

POST FALLS — The host Jaguars won the first two sets before falling to the Spartans 13-25, 23-25, 25-19, 26-24, 15-13 in nonleague play at The Courts at Real Life.

Jillian Russworm had 10 kills, four aces and six digs for Genesis Prep (2-2). Madi Cooper had seven kills, five aces and three digs, Laya Daniels eight kills, four blocks and three digs, Kennedy Prendergast 26 assists, five kills and four digs, Pearl Covey 26 assists, five kills and four digs, Ella Martin eight digs and two aces, Shayla Hill five kills, three aces and three digs.

“We fought hard tonight,” Genesis Prep coach Paula Thurston said. “We started strong but just couldn't finish. But I'm super proud of the girls for not giving up.”

Priest River is 2-2.

Genesis Prep travels to Kootenai on Thursday.
