Sandpoint 10, Post Falls 0

POST FALLS — Sandpoint’s Hope Barnes had three goals and four assists as the Bulldogs defeated Post Falls in convincing fashion 10-0 on Wednesday at Post Falls High School.

In addition to Barnes’ stellar performance, six other Bulldogs were able to score Wednesday afternoon. Elia Howard scored the first goal of the game on an assist from Hannah Harvey. Harvey would score her first goal and record her first assist of the season later in the contest.

Vivian Haag also scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Barnes. Mya Vorhies (2), Marlee McCrum and Bayah Ratigan would also score goals of their own. Maddie Mitchell, Aspen Little-Torrez and Ratigan accounted for the remaining assists in the contest.

The last goal of the game was scored by Vorhies assisted by Ava Glahe, which gave the Bulldogs their second double-digit win of the season.

“It was an interesting game,” assistant coach Madi Schoening said. “We were able to work on different tactical runs and plays and put athletes in different spots.”

Sandpoint outshot Post Falls 46-0 in the contest, with 26 of those shots coming in the first half.

"These types of games are tough to keep the girls focused," assistant coach Alan Brinkmeier said. "We try to challenge them by continuing to work on the things we have been working on in practice."

Brinkmeier said the team worked on recycling the ball to pull Post Falls outward because the Trojans started out very compact, playing 10 defenders behind the ball.

Sandpoint was able to rest some of their key starters and give their younger varsity players some quality experience.

Sandpoint (6-3, 2-0) will take on Moscow on the road Thursday, Sept. 21.
