WORLEY — Lake City freshman Trey Lambert shot a 1-under 71 to earn medalist honors at the Dizzy Bird Invitational at Circling Raven Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.
“It was just another super, solid round from him,” Lake City boys coach Kelly Reed said. “He’s kind of played like that all season and you’d never guess he’s two weeks into his freshman year. Trey just has a great mentality for the game of golf. Him and (Coeur d’Alene junior) Grant (Potter) played together today, and they’re both so good, it’s fun to watch.”
Coeur d’Alene won the boys and girls team titles, with Viking sophomore Sophia Vignale taking girls medalist with a 75.
“Coach (Chase) Bennett) and I really challenged our golfers over the past week in playing in Montana and McCall, and it’s really paying dividends,” Coeur d’Alene girls coach Jeff Lake said. “Our girls shot their low team score of the year with a 315, and it’s so cool to see our kids playing with such confidence and swagger. We’re looking forward to finishing the season strong.”

LEWISTON — Junior Liam Martin just had one of those days on Thursday for the Vikings.
Martin recorded a hat trick for the Vikings in an Inland Empire League win over the Bengals at Walker Field.
“Today, Liam just found himself in the right place in the box and was able to create inside the 18-yard line,” Coeur d’Alene coach Braden Ridgewell said. “He’s a player that usually finds the place and touches, but it just all clicked together for him. He was just a step quicker in each facet of the game and knew exactly where the ball was going a half second before the other guy today.”
Junior forward Kason Pintler and senior defender Chet Hanna also scored first half goals, Elijah Raybell two assists, for Coeur d’Alene (6-1, 5-1 IEL), which hosts Sandpoint in a nonleague game on Saturday at the school’s soccer field.
“Our defenders, especially Chief Allan and Jackson Nickel did a great job of holding the back line,” Ridgewell said. “They pressed when they had a chance and that allowed us to get into the attacking third of the field.”
Lewiston is 0-8-1, 0-6-1.

COEUR d’ALENE — Juniors Valentyn Kuzyk and Jacob Molina each recorded hat tricks as the host Timberwolves (7-0-0) beat the Bears (0-5-1) in nonleague play at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.
Connor Jump had four assists for Lake City.
“Today's win was a total team effort,” Lake City coach Kevin Jump said. “There were players today, like Brayden Ristic, who won't show up on the stats line, but he played a nearly flawless game and was absolutely dominant both in defense and in the attack. Aidan Stewart was another player who just played outstanding for us today. Both Brayden and Stewie frustrated Moscow the entire match and allowed their teammates to continuously attack Moscow's goal. I ask a lot of our players and they never disappoint.”
Lake City travels to Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on the new artificial turf field.
First half — 1, LC, Valentyn Kuzyk (Jacob Molina), 9:00. 2, LC, Kuzyk (Molina), 11:00. 3, LC, Michael Chan, 13:00. 4, LC, Kai Delio, 16:00. 5, LC, Molina (Gavin Schoener), 25:00. 6, LC, Kuyzk (Jump), 28:00. Seniors Xay Dricketts, Hudson Drake and Austin Parks scored goals to back a shutout by senior goalkeeper Jacob Ludwig in an Inland Empire League win over the Trojans.
“We came out hyped up because of it being senior night,” Lakeland coach Nick Haynes said. “Post Falls made a nice push in the second half, but we were able to hold on. Each game, we’re improving here and there and the guys are starting to figure some things out. We’re competing in games and hopefully, we’ll keep that going.”
Ludwig had nine saves for Lakeland (1-3-1, 1-2-1 IEL), which hosts Priest River on Monday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Junior midfielder Kylie McCamly scored on an assist from freshman Sophie Holecek in the 66th minute of an Inland Empire League draw against the Bengals at Viking Field.
“It was a great counter attack we had,” Coeur d’Alene coach Andy Vredenburg said. “The ball went into Sophie and she laid it off to Kylie, who got a breakaway and finished it off. Lewiston has put together a great team this year.”
Vredenburg also credited senior defender Grace Breisacher with defending Lewiston freshman Avery Lathen, who scored five goals in Tuesday’s match against Lake City.
“Our game plan was to shut her down, and that’s what Grace did,” Vredenburg said. “She kept her from getting going. We had some chances late but just couldn’t put them away.”
