A cyclist from Florida was killed in a collision with a pickup truck while crossing the intersection of Holt Stage Road, Mennonite Church Road and Montana 35 on Monday, officials say.
Authorities pronounced the 67-year-old Vergo Beach, Florida resident dead at the scene. Officials said he was riding behind another cyclist and unable to clear the intersection in time to avoid a Chevrolet Silverado driven by an 18-year-old Kalispell man about noon, Sept. 18.
The pickup was traveling southbound on Montana 35 and approaching Mennonite Church Road prior to the deadly collision, officials said.
Road conditions were described as clear and dry. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash.
The cyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, officials said.
