Superior volleyball looks to find footing

It was not a good week for the young Superior volleyball team as they dropped a pair of games to St. Ignatius, 3-0 Thursday at home, then were swept by Seeley 3-0 on the road.
Superior hosted St. Ignatius in a conference game last week but could not keep up with the Lady Bulldogs.
St. Ignatius jumped ahead early in their match, taking the first set 25-18 to grab a 1-0 match lead. The Lady Dogs then cranked it up and won the second set 25-10 to take a commanding 2-0 match lead.
The Lady Bobcats battled hard but St. Ignatius clinched the match with a dominating 25-7 win in the third and final set.
Izzy Evans had a good match for the Lady Bulldogs, hitting six service aces, nine kills and eight digs. Teammate Jada Domebo chipped in nine assists for the victors.
Saturday night did not get any easier for Superior as they journeyed to Seeley.
The Lady Blackhawks used their experience and size advantage to take a 25-12 victory in the first set, then moved to a 2-0 match lead when they captured set number two, 25-14.
The Hawks clinched the sweep in the third set, which they won 25-11. Superior at one point held a 5-3 lead in the third set, but Seeley erased that lead and dominated the second part of the third set.
Superior has a pair of contests this week, beginning with a match this Thursday at home, then a road trip to Eureka Saturday.
