Pianist Simone Dinnerstein will perform with the Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center, 211 E. Desmet Ave., Spokane.

Dinnerstein will be the featured soloist in a performance of Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat Major. Music director Kevin Hekmatpanah will conduct the performance, which will also include Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 4 in C Minor The Tragic.

Dinnerstein has an appreciation of music by Johann Sebastien Bach and has brought bold and expressive artistry to the work of Brahms in performances for over 10 years.

“Brahms’ second piano concerto has long been my favorite, but I never felt ready to play it,” Dinnerstein said. “Something about turning 50 felt like it was about time I faced this challenge, and I have spent the past few months delving deep into the forest of this remarkable work.”

Dinnerstein is excited for the performance with the Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra that will reunite her with Hekmatpanah.

“I’ve had the great pleasure of collaborating with Kevin Hekmatpanah and the Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra several times in the past,” she said. “It’s always wonderful to play with ensembles that take such joy in making music, and I look forward to exploring Brahms’ world with them!”

Tickets start at $15 and are available at gonzagaperformingarts.evenue.net.
