COEUR d’ALENE — Soroptimist (Best for Women) International of Coeur d’Alene is seeking nominations for its annual Women of Distinction Awards.

The awards are presented to women whose achievements and dedication to community service set them apart.

Soroptimist International is a service group for women that works to better the lives of women and girls in the local community.

“We live in an incredible community where acts of excellence are occurring daily and encourage nominations to highlight those that are making a positive impact,” said Ann Ealy, Soroptimist Coeur d’Alene committee chair.

Categories for notations include arts and culture, business and professional, community service, education, health, pubic service, senior and legacy.

Nomination forms can be filled out at www.sicda.org. Entries are due Oct. 15.

Soroptimist International will host its 40th annual Women of Distinction Awards ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 17 at the Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn. Proceeds from the event help support local women and girls through monetary awards, scholarships and mentorships.

“When women learn, their families live healthier lives,” Theresa Young, president of the Coeur d’Alene chapter, said last year. “When women are educated, their countries are more likely to have greater economic growth.”
