REGAN: False detail

Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 year, 6 months AGO

In Brent Regan’s recent column titled “The Pattern of Deception,” Regan falsely claimed that my father, retired FBI Special Agent Wayne F. Manis, was the “lead agent” in the Randy Weaver case. This is false.

In reality, my dad took Weaver into custody and escorted him to federal detention after Weaver’s surrender. Wayne Manis was not the lead case agent in Weaver. This can be confirmed by both the autobiography Regan mentioned and the Congressional record.

The Kootenai County Republican Central Committee has published this incorrect information on their website, along with photos from my dad’s career. I urge Regan to read Dad’s book. He might enjoy it.
