Loggers football loses homecoming game to Corvallis

Libby's 2023 Homecoming football game against Corvallis may be memorable for a few reasons, but the Loggers would prefer to quickly erase the final score from their collective memories.
The Blue Devils dominated the game from the beginning and won 44-0 to run their record to 5-0.
The reeling Loggers have dropped three straight games after a 2-0 start.
There was a scary moment on the last play of the first quarter when senior Carson Williams landed hard while trying to break up a Corvallis TD pass. There were some frantic moments as coaches called for the ambulance, but Williams was conscious and gave a "thumbs-up" as he was wheeled off the field and into the ambulance.
The game was delayed again for nearly 30 minutes in the first half when the power went out, putting the field in darkness.
While youthful fans provided some levity using the lights on their cell phones, someone's Rottweiler trotted across the field.
But order was quickly restored, the game resumed and Homecoming festivities went on as planned at halftime for the 50th time at the current site of Loggers Stadium.
Gaige Bache and Alyssa Nordwick were crowned King and Queen after the court was presented to a packed crowd of Loggers faithful.
The court also included Ellie Andreessen, Katelyn Huff, Macey Sichting, Jocelyn White, David Beck, Jace DeShazer, Trent Riddel and Cy Williams.
The game itself resumed with the Loggers trailing 38-0 at halftime. The hosts drove inside the Corvallis 10 in the third quarter, but a Blue Devils 100-yard interception return for a touchdown set the final at 44-0.
Libby stays at home this Friday for a game against Butte Central Catholic.
The Maroons are 0-5 after a 63-15 loss at Browning last Friday.
