PREP ROUNDUP: Coeur d'Alene downs Lake City in three

COEUR d'ALENE — Paisley Goings had 15 kills and 10 digs for the Coeur d'Alene Vikings in a 25-22, 25-17, 25-21 Inland Empire League win over the host Lake City Timberwolves on Wednesday.

Bailey Jaworski had 11 assists, four aces and eight digs, Elizabeth Hardy 17 assists and Alexa Stavros five aces for Coeur d'Alene (16-2, 6-1 IEL), which competes in the Madison tournament on Friday and Saturday.

"Offensively, we did a good job of moving the ball around and that really brought up the energy level," Coeur d'Alene coach Carly Curtis said. "Lake City served well and was scrappy. But our intensity really pushed us through tonight."

Jess Wilson had eight kills and nine digs, Taylor Winey 21 assists and Daphne Neely 11 digs for Lake City (3-7, 1-6).

"We were much more balanced on our side of the net this around," Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. "But Paisley had a fantastic night with big swings in key moments. Coeur d'Alene had a great offensive attack tonight that kept us move."

Lake City competes in the Linda Sheridan Classic on Friday and Saturday in Spokane.

RATHDRUM — Jett Longanecker scored in the 30th minute for the Bulldogs, who added two goals in the second half to beat the Hawks in an Inland Empire League match at Sunrise Rotary Field.

“Sandpoint is a good team,” Lakeland coach Nick Haynes said. “We tried to know where Jett and Eoin (Eddy, who scored Sandpoint’s second goal) were, but our hands were full with them. But we had some chances. It was a good battle and our kids fought the entire time.”

Lakeland (2-6-2, 1-5-2 IEL) travels to Saint George’s of Spokane next Wednesday.

Sandpoint (8-3, 8-3) travels to Lake City on Tuesday.

POST FALLS — Junior Gio Carlino scored on an assist from senior Carson Sullivan in the 74th minute to push the Trojans over the Tigers on senior night at The Fields.

“We’re still working on the finishing touches and had ample chances tonight,” Post Falls coach John Mueller said. “But I’m proud of all our seniors. Some of them don’t see much time, but they all started and played hard all night. We moved and communicated and you could tell the underclassmen were putting it all out there for the seniors tonight.”

Post Falls (4-7) faces Lewiston on Saturday at The Fields.

Tyler Engleston scored in the 71st minute for Timberlake (5-6-3), which is scheduled to host St. Maries on Saturday.

SANDPOINT — After a scoreless first half, the host Bulldogs scored three straight goals to open the second half to notch an Inland Empire League win over the Hawks at Memorial Field.

“We played a good first half and were hanging right with them,” Lakeland coach Kevin Rogge said. “It was great for us and we held them. They had some solid chances in the second half and put them away. There’s a reason why they’re the top team in the league. It’s not easy to score against them and I’m proud of them for fighting until the end.”

Katie Cameron scored on an assist from Addie Forsman in the 67th minute for Lakeland (4-7-0, 1-7-0 IEL), which travels to Timberlake on Tuesday.

Sandpoint is 7-3-3.
