Carolyn Hanley, 78
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 years, 7 months AGO
Carolyn M. Ringstad (Hanley) was born Jan. 11, 1945, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Erling and Elsie (Warnke) Ringstad. She died Sept. 24, 2023.
She grew up and attended school in Coeur d’Alene. After graduation in 1963, she enrolled at NIC. In 1965, she went to work for GTE and retired from the company after 32 years of employment.
Over the years, she enjoyed skiing, riding motorcycles, four-wheeling, jet skiing, boating, camping and her horses. She spent the summers at her property on the St. Joe River. Sewing, reading and traveling were a passion of hers. The area she just loved visiting was the south eastern states. The history of that area, the elegance of a bygone year just enveloped her soul. She often said she was born a hundred years too late. She had visited all but two states in her travels.
She is survived by Chuck Hanley of St. Maries, Idaho; her daughter, Traci L. Hanley of Kalispell, Mont.; grandchildren Taylor and Dylan Huber of Kingston, Idaho; and her great-grandchildren, Easton and Wyatt Morgan. They were her life, and purpose for living. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She requested no service, so per her request we will not be having one; but she wants everyone to think of her when they drive past her old river property on the St. Joe. That was her favorite place to be.
