COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Alexander runs new personal best in 10,000-meter run
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 year, 8 months AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | April 10, 2024 6:15 PM

Connor Alexander dropped 45 seconds off his 10,000-meter run time, clocking a new personal best of 32:53.34 at the Whitworth Peace Meet held Friday, April 5 at Boppell Track. The Bonners Ferry alumni’s time was good enough for ninth of 17 runners.

Jantzen Lucas, Lewis-Clark State College Baseball
Jantzen Lucas continues to show out for the Warriors. In a recent 8-7 walk-off win against the College of Idaho, Lucas pitched four innings in relief giving up one hit, one earned run, and two walks while striking out six batters. Before getting into some trouble in the seventh inning, the Priest River native did not allow a baserunner in his first four innings of work. It was Lucas’s longest outing of the season and he lowered his season ERA to an impressive 3.00.
No. 8 Lewis-Clark (23-9) hosts No. 2 LSU-Shreveport (32-3) for four games between Apr. 12-14.
Camille Ussher, Spokane CC Track & Field
Bonners Ferry’s Camille Ussher ran a new personal best 800-meter run time of 2:17.45 at the Whitworth Peace Meet, placing ninth out of 55 runners. Ussher, who is committed to Lewis-Clark State next year, beat out 17 NCAA Division I athletes at the meet.
