NIC GOLF: Cardinal men, women win at Olympic tourney

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — The North Idaho College men’s and women’s golf teams were each victorious at the Olympic Invitational Northwest Athletic Conference tournament which concluded Monday at McCormick Woods Golf Club.
NIC’s men won by 13 shots over Community Colleges of Spokane. Jarett Giles of NIC finished runner-up, falling on the second hole of a playoff after shooting a 77-73—150, 4 over par. Josh McCartain and Dyson Lish of NIC tied for third at 151.
Cole Jaworski of Community Colleges of Spokane, a sophomore from Coeur d’Alene High, finished tied for sixth with a 77-75—152
NIC’s women won by 33 shots over Centralia.
Sofia Lippiello and Laila Jalil of NIC tied for third, each shooting 86-84—170, nine strokes behind the winner. Ava Young of NIC was fifth at 172, and Rien Solodan tied for 10th at 182.
Next up for NIC is an NWAC tournament hosted by Grays Harbor in DuPont, Wash.
