School districts to provide free summer meals

The Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Lakeland Joint school districts will offer free meals on site this summer.
Meal service will be Monday through Friday from June 17 to Aug. 16. Meals will not be served July 4-5 for the Fourth of July holiday.
COEUR d'ALENE
• Ramsey Magnet School of Science, 1351 W. Kathleen Ave.
Breakfast: 8-9 a.m.
Lunch 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Lakes Middle School, 930 N. 15th St.
Breakfast: 8-9 a.m.
Lunch: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Meals for those older than 18 will be $5.
POST FALLS
• Ponderosa Elementary, 3483 E. Ponderosa Blvd.|
Breakfast: 8-9 a.m.
Lunch: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• River City Middle School, 1505 N. Fir St.
Breakfast: 7:30-8:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Post Falls High School, 2832 E. Poleline Ave.
Breakfast: 7:30-8:30 a.m.
Lunch: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Post Falls meals will be served in the cafeteria at each location and will be free to all children ages 1-18. Parents and those older than 18 can purchase breakfast for $2.65 and lunch for $4.70. All meals must be consumed on location as the program is not approved for grab-and-go service.
The Post Falls School District has a special partnership with the Post Falls Public Library this year. The library's summer youth reading program will be at Ponderosa and Post Falls High School.
"We are very excited to offer families the opportunity to participate in both of these great community programs at the same time and location," said Becky Elmore, director of nutrition services for Post Falls.
Additional activities such as music, science projects, crafts, book giveaways and more will be offered throughout the summer.
LAKELAND
• Lakeland Middle School, 15601 Highway 41, Rathdrum
Breakfast: 7:30-9 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Athol Elementary School, 6333 E. Menser Ave., Athol
Breakfast: 8:30-9 a.m.
• Timberlake High School, 5973 W. Highway 54, Spirit Lake
Breakfast: 9:30-10 a.m.
Meals for those older than 18 will be $3 for breakfast and $5 for lunch.

Christmas shopping is always better with friends. When those friends are festively clad classmates with a common goal of shopping for families in need while keeping to a budget, it makes that shopping experience much merrier. “It’s really nice and I’m super happy that I can bring joy to people who can’t afford as much as they would like,” Lake City High School senior Aurora Johnson said Thursday morning. "It’s a really fun and great activity, and I love how passionate our class is for it.”
