A Washington man was jailed after a recent incident in Libby’s Fireman’s Park.
John David St. Clair, 62, of Everett, was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstructing a peace officer. All are misdemeanor charges.
As of April 17, St. Clair was locked up in the Lincoln County Detention Center on $5,000 bail.
According to the probable cause statement by Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy Joshua Brabo, St. Clair was arrested at about 5:18 p.m. Sunday, April 14.
County dispatch told Brabo that a drunk and disorderly man was yelling profanities at Fireman’s Park while multiple children were in the park.
When Brabo spoke to St. Clair, the man allegedly said he was very drunk. Brabo also said St. Clair was verbally hostile and used excessive profane language during the encounter and refused to comply with his commands.
During the incident, Brabo was told of an active, outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant for the man and tried to arrest him. Brabo reported that St. Clair actively resisted arrest and the officer had to use force to gain custody of the man.
Brabo also wrote that St. Clair has an extensive criminal history and multiple convictions throughout the country for crimes of a similar nature.
Convictions on the resisting and obstruction charges could result in a maximum sentence of six months in the Lincoln County jail.
