MCL to celebrate 75 years of service

KENNEWICK — Mid‐Columbia Libraries will celebrate 75 years of service in Kennewick on Aug. 3, according to an announcement from MCL. The event will take place 1 to 3 p.m. at the Kennewick library, located at 1620 S. Union St.
This event is free and open to the public and will be preceded by the children’s band Eric Herman and the Puppy Dogs from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., according to the announcement. The library will also have activities, a photo booth and refreshments, while supplies last. There will also be a giveaway courtesy of Friends of Mid‐Columbia Libraries.
“Mid‐Columbia Libraries has served the residents of Kennewick since our founding in 1949, Executive Director Kyle Cox wrote in the announcement. “Our Kennewick branch libraries are well‐used and well‐loved. The city of Kennewick is a valued partner, and we look forward to serving its residents for many more years.”
MCL is headquartered in Kennewick and maintains 12 branches in the region, including in Othello, Basin City and Connell, according to its website.

Boys and Girls Club logo allegedly used in Moses Lake scam
MOSES LAKE — Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin officials are warning people that scammers apparently are using the club’s logo and claiming to be affiliated with the organization. The scammers allegedly were soliciting money door to door along Third Avenue early Tuesday afternoon.
