COEUR d’ALENE — A man accused of stalking his ex and sharing intimate photos of her is in jail and facing felony charges.

Jesse D. Upchurch, 34, of Post Falls, is charged with stalking, a misdemeanor, as well as two counts of video voyeurism, both felonies. He also faces a persistent violator enhancement.

The charges stem from Aug. 2, when a woman reported to police that Upchurch had been stalking her.

The woman told police that in late July, he allegedly grabbed her wrist hard enough to leave “significant bruising.” She said Upchurch had repeatedly called and texted her since then, and after she blocked his phone number, he continued to contact her using different numbers and various social media accounts, according to court records.

Some of the messages allegedly suggested Upchurch had been following the woman and observing her from afar without her knowledge. Court records indicate Upchurch also allegedly called the woman’s workplace multiple times and made threatening statements to other employees.

Facebook messages reviewed by police showed that Upchurch had shared intimate photos of the woman with multiple people, according to court records.

When questioned by police, Upchurch denied grabbing the woman in July and denied having “unwanted contact” with her, though he acknowledged calling her workplace, police said.

Police arrested Upchurch on Friday night. After he was booked into jail, he attempted to call the woman from a jail phone, according to court records.

Upchurch has multiple prior felony convictions, court records show, including burglary in 2013, grand theft in 2014, possession of a controlled substance in 2015 and battery on a health care worker in 2019.
