While Paris was hosting the 2024 Olympics, records were being broken at the Mineral County Cabin Fever Quilters 23rd Annual Quilt Show.

“We had 31 participants in the show and 125 exhibits. This is a new record high,” exclaimed Naomi Mesenbrink. “All ribbon winners won by only 10 votes or less, with several one-vote differences. There was a total of 38 exhibits chosen as the Best in Show by the public and the final Best of Show winner only had a total of nine votes over second place. That says a lot about the quality of our show.”

This quilting guild is so organized and proactive that for the 2025 show (Aug. 1 and 2), they already have a co-chair, the Featured Quilter, and two vendors have signed on.

“We are moving into the (Superior High School) gym starting next year, which will allow for additional growth, creative layouts, no height restrictions for more large quilts,” Mesenbrink explained.

The Raffle Quilt winner was Joe Griffith of Superior, and he stated he only purchased $10 or $20 worth of tickets. Griffith shared that he and his wife collect quilts, and this is going to be a great addition to their collection.

The Scavenger Hunt gift basket winner was Jackie Padgett who was with the Clark Fork Fellowship missionary group. With a huge smile, Mesenbrink said “I had a total of 24 volunteers from the quilt guild members, and some husbands, for setup, tear down, stations, and work the Country Store. Many hands make short work I had so many volunteers this year throughout the show which allowed me to be on-call and take care of my disabled son as needed. I couldn’t have done this without all of you! Thank you!”

Accolades go to the following participants: Best of Show – Micky Tourtelott. Bed Quilt-Pro Quilted – Katie Vesel. Bed Quilt-Self Quilted - Della Russell. Lap Quilt - Bonnie Goodrich. Modern/Contemporary - Paula Dalby. Misc/Novelty - Peggy Temple. Large Wall Hanging - Diane Jones. Small Wall Hanging - Katie Vesel. Youth/Rookie – (No Entries). Baby Child Quilt - Katie Vesel.
