Every community needs someone that works to lift up those facing hard times. 

Chennell Wolfe is one of those people for the community of Moses Lake as she works to manage the Open Doors Sleep Center and Moses Lake Enhanced Shelter. 

“Under her leadership, (the city) has successfully piloted a Housing First program that significantly reduces barriers for the unhoused or those with unstable housing. This initiative focuses on long-term stability by ensuring access to necessary resources,” said Brittany Bouchouari Director of Operations and Housing at HopeSource, who nominated Wolfe for this year’s 40 under 40 cohort.

Wolfe works to establish collaboration and bring community resources together to ensure clients are taken care of and their individual needs are met. 

Wolfe has worked extensively in community service through nonprofits like American Behavioral Health Systems in their Substance Use Disorder Program. 

Wolfe has been with HopeSource for three years and has consistently encouraged the implementation of programs that address homelessness and housing instability, Bouchouari said. Wolfe’s role not only has her managing shelter operations, but also pushing forward programs that eliminate barriers to housing and improve access to support services.

“Her keen understanding that success in the social services non-profit sector hinges on teamwork and partnership sets her apart as a leader who is not only innovative but also deeply committed to the well-being of the community,” Bouchouari said.

Wolfe is also involved in various community coalitions to reduce the negative impacts of illicit drug use in the area and enhancing social services in Moses Lake.

“Her collaborative spirit and strategic vision have made her a respected figure in the community, contributing to various advisory boards and working groups,” Bouchouari said.
