The Bonner General Health Volunteer Council is proud to award a BGH Volunteer Education Scholarship to a trio of volunteers — Kendall Miller, Torin Haesle and Heidi Hansch — who have volunteered over 50 hours per year in various departments over the last several years. Each will receive a $500 scholarship.

Kendall Miller graduated summa cum laude with two bachelor's of science degrees from Rochester Institute of Technology and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in upstate New York. She double majored in American Sign Language Interpreting as well as biomedical sciences. She hopes to attend the University of Washington Medical School. Miller is passionate about rural medicine and supporting underserved communities.

Torin Haesle is a rising senior at Sandpoint High School and has been volunteering at Bonner General since his freshman year. He hopes to study Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University and then go to medical school for pediatric health.

Heidi Hansch will be a senior at Montana State and is studying applied mathematics. She shadowed several physicians at BGH during her time as a volunteer. She will be taking the Medical College Admissions test at the end of August.

BGH officials said they are proud of the hospital's student volunteers and wish them well in their future endeavors.
