Fall sports has kicked off in south Lincoln County and there are a handful of home events this weekend.

The Libby Loggers cross country teams will host an invitational Friday at 10 a.m. at Cabinet View Golf Course.

The Loggers soccer teams also begin the season at home, hosting Frenchtown Saturday at J. Neils Memorial Park. The girls game begins at 2:30 p.m. while the boys play at 4:30 p.m.

The Libby and Troy football squads begin their respective seasons on the road Friday and won’t host a home game until the third week of the season.

The Loggers, led by new head coach Kyle Hannah, play at Stevensville at 7 p.m. The Logger’s first home game is set for Friday, Sept. 13. They will host Ronan.

For the Troy Trojans, they open the season at Darby with a 5 p.m. kickoff. Troy’s first home game is 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, against Valley Christian.

The Loggers girls volleyball team begins its season Friday at the Frenchtown Tip-off Tournament.

Their first home match is Tuesday, Sept. 3, against Eureka in a Battle of the Kootenai affair.

Troy’s volleyball squad opens its season at Arlee Saturday, Sept. 7. The first home match isn’t until Saturday, Sept. 21 against Darby.

The Libby Loggers golf team began play last Thursday at the Ronan Invitational at Mission Mountain Golf Club.

According to head coach Dann Rohrer, Addison Skranak and Lucy DeShazer had great rounds. Skranak shot 113, good enough for a 17th place finish and DeShazer had a personal best 119. The Lady Loggers were fifth, out of 11 teams, with 376.

For the boys team, Teague Thompson led the Loggers with a 99. Degan Quinn followed with a 124, Fox Hayden scored 133 and Noah Brothers 140. As a team, they finished last in the 13-team field with a total of 428.

"For most of the boys it was their first high school tournament," Rohrer said. "With all the work the team is putting in I know we will see great improvement."

Next up is a trip to Whitefish Lake Golf Club Tuesday, Aug. 27.

The Loggers host the Libby Invitational at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13.
