POST FALLS — Parks manager Bryan Myers has been awarded the Patriot Award through the Employer Support for the Guard and Reserves.

The ESGR outreach coordinator Kenneth Scott, who is a retired United States Air Force master sergeant, presented the award to Myers.

The ESGR was created more than 50 years ago through the Department of Defense to deepen relationships between employers and reserve military members before, during and after fulfilling military responsibilities in addition to their civilian jobs.

Daniel Stevenson, parks maintenance supervisor, commended Myers for providing flexibility and honoring the sacrifice of those who served when Stevenson was called upon for service through the U.S. Navy Reserves.

“Under his leadership, I've received unwavering support to fulfill my military duties while thriving in my civilian role,” Stevenson said.

“I’m honored to be recognized by my staff for support of both him individually and to those he serves alongside,” Myers said.

Nominations come from National Guard's members/military reservist or their spouses for support from the workplace concerning flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and leaves of absence if needed.

Myers credited the park team for ensuring community expectations are met for park venues in Post Falls.

“I am ever so grateful to all of those who have answered the call to serve this great nation,” Stevenson said.
