NIC MEN'S SOCCER: Fresh pressure paying off for Cardinals

WENATCHEE, Wash. — The fresh faces at North Idaho College are making things difficult for its opponents so far this season.
Rodrigo Santos, Amani Contreras and Lorian Aerts — all freshmen — scored for the Cardinals, who improved to 3-0 on the season with a 3-0 win over host Wenatchee Valley on Tuesday afternoon.
“Our defensive play made it hard for them to string any passes together,” NIC coach Brad Williams said. “Everyone that played contributed to that today. We’re happy with the result, but we want to get more goals, and know that’s something we’ve got to work on.”
NIC, which opened with wins over the Community Colleges of Spokane and Skagit Valley, returned home on Sunday, attended classes on Monday, then traveled back to Wenatchee for Tuesday’s match.
“We came back, got them into class, and got back on the road,” Williams said. “It’s something that we’ve got to be road warriors and learn to win on the road.”
NIC visits Shoreline Community College on Thursday.
Wenatchee Valley is 2-1-0.
