As she prepared the team for its season opener this Saturday during a tip-off tournament at Mission High in St. Ignatius. The Trotters play their first home game this year on Sept. 3 when they host Florence. Two nights later, Sept. 5, Plains hosts powerful Missoula Loyola.
Lakko is counting on this year’s team work ethic to keep them improving as the season goes on.
“This team has high character,” Lakko said. “They also have an exceptional work ethic and team mentality.”
The Trotters had a strong turnout this season with more than 20 players showing up with a few more likely to join soon.
“This group of girls just wants to improve with each game, each set,” Lakko added. “I admire their growth mindset.”
Lakko says this team will progress with hard work.
“Running and executing strong offense and defense and staying in the system. We are grateful for all competition in our district and look forward to their progress and future competition.”
Lakko will be assisted this year by Jesse Butcher.
