Bigfork’s Rumble in the Bay is back for its 16th year of raising money for the Bigfork VFW scholarship fund.
“This year’s featured car is the rat rod, so we’re really excited to see all the creative, one-of-a-kind builds on display,” Bigfork Area Chamber executive director Rebekah King said. “But beyond the cars, it’s also about spending an amazing day in Bigfork, supporting the local businesses that make our community so unique. It’s really a celebration of community, nostalgia, and automotive art.”
The festivities will kick off with the Rumble Around the Lake poker run Saturday, Aug. 31, which starts at the Buffalo Saloon at 10:30 a.m. Players will return to the Buffalo Saoon at 4 p.m. for an Ante-up Party.
Also Saturday is Skald Coffee’s first Cars and Coffee event at 12090 Highway 83 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., where a small group of car enthusiasts are expected to meet for food, coffee and cars. Participants can visit Skald’s Facebook page and register for the event, or simply show up day-of.
Rumble in the Bay will take place Sunday, Sept. 1 on Electric Avenue and Grand Avenue. Around 250 cars are expected, with 100 already pre-registered. Attendance is free, with Show and Shine from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and awards ceremony at 3 p.m. at Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts. Parking is available at Bigfork Schools. There will be food, entertainment and a poker walk.
Proceeds go to the VFWs scholarships and awards, given each year to Bigfork students and residents.
“We’ve been fortunate to donate $2,500 each of the last few years to the Bigfork VFW’s high school scholarship program, thanks in large part to our generous sponsors,” King said. “This year, we’re proud to be supported by Kalispell Auto Group, Andy’s Crafthouse, Katie Hicks State Farm, and Glacier Collision Worx. Their contributions, along with the dedicated car enthusiast who attend each year, help us keep this event going strong.”
