Wyoming d. Washington State 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-11: At Omaha, Neb., Sage Brustad and Katy Ryan, a senior from Lakeland High, had 14 kills each for the Cougars in a loss to the Cowboys in the season opener for both in the Omaha Invitational. Ryan, playing in her 100th career match at WSU, finished with 16 points to put her career total at 977.5.
Utah Valley d. Eastern Washington 25-20, 27-25, 25-22: At Orem, Utah, Tanai Jenkins, a redshirt junior from Lake City High, had two blocks for the Eagles in an loss to the Wolverines in the season opening Utah Valley Tournament.
Eastern Washington d. Cal State Bakersfield 25-20, 25-14, 25-21: At Orem, Utah, Kalista Lukovich had 15 kills and Tanai Jenkins five blocks for the Eagles (1-1) in a win over the Roadrunners (1-1) in the Utah Valley Tournament.
Alabama A&M d. Idaho 25-17, 25-18, 25-20: At Huntsville, Ala., Zuzanna Wieczorek had 15 kills for the Vandals in a loss to the Bulldogs in the season opener for both at the Betty Austin Invitational.
Gonzaga d. Southern Utah 25-20, 27-25, 25-15: At La Jolla, Calif., Maggie Rickert had 15 kills and 11 digs for the Bulldogs (1-0) in a sweep of the Thunderbirds (0-2) at the UC San Diego Invitational.
