PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Kreager’s 3-point shooting helps Priest River to victory in opener
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 year AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | December 4, 2024 4:00 PM

PRIEST RIVER — Senior Brock Kreager nailed six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 21 points and the host Spartans closed the game on a 16-2 run to take down the visiting Jaguars 65-42 in their season opener Tuesday.
Priest River got off to slow start, trailing 17-11 early in the second quarter, but eventually got hot. The Spartans closed the quarter on a 20-6 run and took a 31-23 lead heading into halftime. In the second half, Kreager hit four of his triples, including a buzzer-beater to end the third quarter, and the Spartans ran away with the victory from there.

Junior Ian Lamanna added seven points, all from the charity stripe, senior Sawyer Staudt six points and three steals, junior Lucas Mathews a team-high four assists for Priest River (1-0), which travels to Newport this Saturday.
