MOSES LAKE — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office recovered a van stolen from the El Oro Cattle Company on Dec. 2 and arrested 34-year-old Tomas Diaz Layna on Dec. 3, according to a GCSO statement.

A Sheriff’s Crime Reduction Team deputy found the van parked outside 1029 S. Division St. in Moses Lake. Someone had swapped the rear license plate.

Then, the Sheriff's Crime Reduction Team, GCSO deputies and Moses Lake Police Department set up surveillance of the vehicle. At around 1 a.m., Diaz Layna got into the van and was surrounded by law enforcement. The key was found in his pocket during the arrest.

Diaz Layna was arrested and booked into Grant County Jail for suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle. As of Wednesday evening, he was still listed on the Grant County Jail inmate roster.
