Evicted tenant allegedly takes aim at landlord

A tenant accused of shooting at his landlord with an AR-style rifle as she evicted him from her rental property earlier this month faces a felony assault with a weapon charge in Flathead County District Court.
Authorities are holding Joshua Duwayne Stice, 39, in the county jail with bail set at $60,0000 following his arrest during the Dec. 3 confrontation north of Kalispell.
His landlord told responding Flathead County Sheriff's Office deputies that she heard gunshots outside Stice's former McDermott Lane home about 5:05 a.m. She looked outside from a kitchen window and allegedly saw Stice aiming a rifle at her.
Stice also threatened to kill her father, who was inside the home, court documents said.
Arresting Stice at the property, deputies searched his Ford Escape. Inside they found two loaded firearms, including an AR-style rifle, according to court documents.
Stice was expected to appear before Judge Robert Allison on Dec. 6 for his arraignment, but no record of the hearing exists in the court system as yet. Felony assault with a weapon is punishable by up to 20 years in Montana State Prison and a $50,000 fine.
