NIC board to hire new legal counsel
STAFF REPORT | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 year AGO
COEUR d'ALENE — North Idaho College trustees are expected to choose new legal counsel during a special meeting Wednesday night.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 in the Driftwood Bay Room in the Edminster Student Union Building.
Last month, trustees voted unanimously to give termination notice to college attorney Colton Boyles and the firm Eversheds Sutherland. The board also voted to order Boyles and Eversheds Sutherland to suspend all legal work for the college while NIC issued a request for proposals from qualified legal counsel.
The firms up for consideration this week are Lake City Law, based in Coeur d'Alene, and Spokane firm Stevens Clay, according to a news release issued by the college.
Stevens Clay applied to be NIC's legal counsel last summer, though the board voted 3-2 to hire Boyles instead.
