NIC MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals take finale in Texas

BIG SPRING, Texas — Sophomore guard Vaughn Weems had a team-high 24 points and 10 rebounds for North Idaho College in a 71-67 win over Midland in its final game of the Howard Classic on Sunday at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.
Sophomores Sam Marbury and Deng Diew scored 15 points each for NIC, which outrebounded Midland 40-26 and shot 23 of 51. Midland finished 21 of 57.
NIC (7-5) returns to action next Monday against the Lilac City Legends.
Jaden Kempson scored 19 points for Midland (9-4).
