Mattawa PD reports gang-related shooting

MATTAWA – The Mattawa Police Department released a report regarding a shooting that occurred Saturday night in the 100 block of second street. Officers from MPD and Grant County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the scene and recovered evidence.
Officers were then notified of a victim being transported to a regional hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, the Mattawa PD said the victim is being uncooperative.
The department believes the incident was gang related; however, this is still an ongoing investigation.
The Mattawa Police Department is asking those who may have witnessed the incident to contact the department at 509-932-4112 and reference case number 24MA1217.

One dies in canal accident near Ephrata
EPHRATA – Kevin Kershaw, 55, of Yakima was attempting to drive his 2025 GMC Sierra on the canal road when he attempted to turn around and lost control of the vehicle Thursday. The vehicle slid into the canal and Kershaw was found deceased downstream from the vehicle.
