The Ronan Pioneer, Dec. 28, 1924

Flathead, Garden of the Rockies

As this is being written Wednesday, Dec. 19, our valley is fulfilling all that we claim for it. The sun is beaming down in a spring-like warmth, the birds are chirping along the sidewalks, and the grass is green and all nature is blooming as though this valley was transported from some tropical land and protected from the wintry winds by the natural boundary line of mountain and hill.

Only the warm Japan current comes up through the southwest and as the Christmas tide approaches, the Pioneer wants to express to all its friends in this valley the profound joy we feel of being privileged to live here in the shadow of these mountain peaks.

Basketball/Dance scheduled

On Friday evening, Dec. 28, there will be a basketball game between the Somers High School and the Ronan High School, which will be followed by a dance. The proceeds of this entertainment will go toward the library fund.

“Great communities are built on volunteers”

Cars and trucks lined Main Street in Polson to collect Thanksgiving dinners from the Elks Club last Thursday. The drive-through dinner, commandeered by field marshal Tracy Plaiss, served 1,800 Thanksgiving dinners, made from scratch. A few miles south, the Ronan Community Thanksgiving dinner filled a room in the Boys and Girls Club with tables of visiting people and the aromas of roasting turkey and savory dressing.
