Elinor “Elly” G. Jones, 93, of Columbia Falls passed away Dec. 18, 2024. She was born Aug. 1, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Donald Goodrich and Elinor Goodrich (Ward).

Elly was from Minnesota and made her way to Montana with her husband because of the love for the outdoors. She was heavily involved in the Audubon and one of the earliest members here in the valley. 

Elly raised her family near Swan Lake, which gave her plenty of places to explore the great outdoors. She was passionate about birding, and banded hummingbirds and loved loons. Professionally, Elly was a Med Tech and more recently an at home healthcare technician. She was also a member of the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church. 

During her free time, she enjoyed hiking and was a part of the local hiking group that met on Tuesdays and Thursdays, birding and bonding. She loved her dogs and walked them frequently around town.  She considered herself lucky, happy, and always felt blessed. 

Her personality was infectious for others’ happiness. Some of her other hobbies included needlework, quilting, and prayer quilting for church. 

Elly will always be remembered when hearing Loons and the buzz of hummingbirds. 

Elly is survived by children: Elinor Cashel (Bill), Ruth Bury, Charles Huntington Jones, and Jeff Jones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Jefferson Jones, Jr., a brother and a sister.
