MOSES LAKE – Check out this week’s sports schedule for high school athletics across the Columbia Basin, including bowling, competitive cheerleading, basketball, swim and dive and wrestling events. 

Friday, Dec. 27 

Hanford Winter Cup – girls wrestling tournament begins at 10 a.m. at Hanford – includes ACH, Ephrata, Royal and Warden. 

LRS girls, boys basketball vs River View – 5, 6:30 p.m. 

MLCA/CCS girls basketball vs Chesterton Academy – 5 p.m. 

Quincy boys basketball vs Port Angeles – 2 p.m. at the Yakima Valley SunDome. 

Quincy girls basketball vs Waterville-Mansfield – 2 p.m. at Chelan High School. 

Royal girls basketball vs Mt. Spokane – noon at West Valley (Spokane) High School. 

Warden girls basketball vs Toledo – 1:30 p.m. at Central Washington University. 

Saturday, Dec. 28 

ACH girls, boys basketball vs LRS – 4:30, 6 p.m. 

Ephrata girls, boys basketball at Omak – 2:30, 4 p.m. 

LRS wrestling at Pomeroy Christmas Tournament – 10 a.m. 

Moses Lake boys basketball vs Hanford – 4:30 p.m. 

MLCA/CCS girls, boys basketball vs Wilson Creek – 3:30, 5 p.m. 

Othello boys wrestling at Orting Invite – 9 a.m. 

Royal Christmas Tournament – boys wrestling tournament at Royal. Begins at 10 a.m., includes ACH, Ephrata, Moses Lake, Othello, Quincy, Royal, Wahluke and Warden. 

Royal boys basketball at Connell – 5:15 p.m. 

Royal girls basketball vs Sandpoint (Idaho) - 3:30 p.m. at West Valley (Spokane) High School.

Wildcats Ntekpere selected as GNAC female athlete of the year

PORTLAND, Ore. — Emy Ntekpere’s 2025 track and field season at Central Washington University was nothing short of spectacular, according to a statement by Central Washington Athletics. She broke records seemingly every time she competed, won three NCAA Division II national titles and on Thursday was announced as the 2024-25 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Year, according to the statement. She is the second woman and fourth student-athlete in school history to earn the top individual award from the conference and is the 12th women’s track and field athlete to receive the honor. Other CWU winners were LeAnne McGahuey (volleyball) in 2005-06, Mike Reilly (football) in 2008-09 and Johnny Spevak (football) in 2009-10

MOSES LAKE – Special Olympic teams around the Columbia Basin sent their teams to the state competition in Tacoma Friday morning. Each team held a sendoff for their players as they anticipated their trip to State.
