National signing day: College of Idaho signs three locals in football

NAIA College of Idaho Caldwell announced the signing of three local players to national letters of intent in football Wednesday — wide receiver Tommy Hauser (Post Falls), defensive back Logan Clark (Post Falls) and running back Trey Gibson (St. Maries).

Hauser spent the last two seasons at Idaho, redshirting in 2022. He played in three games in ’22 and ’23, catching two passes for 22 yards in ’22.

Idaho: The Vandals signed seven players Wednesday, bringing to 45 their 2024 recruiting class. The new group includes two receivers, two linebackers, a pair of offensive linemen and a quarterback, Rocco Koch from Curtis High in University Place, Wash.

The other 38 incoming freshmen and transfers were previously announced during the early signing period in December. That group included Lakeland kicker Owen Forsman.

Highlighting the late signing day additions are receiver Marquawn McCraney and linebacker Braxton Lawrence. Both players had power-five offers before eventually committing to the Vandals.

McCraney’s high school coach was new Vandal running backs coach Deaontae Cooper.

The late signees include a pair of Idaho natives, including Jaxon Peterson, an offensive lineman from Kuna who will go on a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before making his way to Moscow. Noah West-Baranco was an All-State receiver for Melba.  

Eastern Washington: The Eagles added seven players Wednesday, giving them a total of 28 for this recruiting class.

The local recruit was wide receiver Bode Gardner from Mt. Spokane High. He was the Greater Spokane League’s All-Purpose MVP as a senior. His father Brian played linebacker at EWU in the late 90s; Eastern coaches said Bode has the athleticism to play on the defensive side as well.
