PREP BASKETBALL: Three reach double-figures for Sandpoint boys in loss to Lake City

I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | February 9, 2024 9:30 PM

Lake City 75, Sandpoint 52

COEUR d’ALENE — Parker Childs led Sandpoint with 18 points as the Bulldogs fell to the Timberwolves at Lake City High Friday night.

Sandpoint kept Lake City within an 8 to 12 point reach for the majority of the game, but the Timberwolves got hot in the fourth quarter and took home the 23-point victory.

“Lake City is a pretty good team and I think everyone would acknowledge that,” head coach Brian Childs said. “What we wanted to do tonight was walk away feeling good about where we're at heading into the district tournament. Overall, I was pleased with our effort. We played Lake City pretty tough through three quarters. I feel pretty good about our competitiveness and I like where we are headed with districts coming up.”

Emerik Jones added 14 points, Derrick Chamberlain 12, for the Bulldogs.

Resse Strawn led the Timberwolves with 24 points.

Sandpoint (9-11) will travel to Lakeland for the 4A District 1-2 play-in game set to be held Monday, Feb. 19.
