OLYMPIA — The Washington State Senate approved a resolution Friday morning that honored former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, who spent 14 years as the coach of the Seahawks.
The prime sponsor of the resolution, which recognizes Carroll’s career as a head coach at both the professional and collegiate levels — as well as his off-field charity and philanthropy work — is Sen. Ann Rivers, R-La Center. Rivers wore a No. 12 Seahawks jersey on the Senate floor Friday, a number that was retired in the '80s honoring Seattle’s fans.
“He thrilled us, he inspired us, he united us,” Rivers said in a release.
Carroll coached the Seahawks from 2010-24, winning a Super Bowl with Seattle in the 2013 season. His 181 career wins are the 14th most in NFL history.
