MOSES LAKE — The Big Bend men’s and women’s basketball teams fell in their outings last week, first losing to Spokane Falls at home Wednesday before losses on the road to Treasure Valley on Saturday, according to a statement from BBCC Athletics.

The men’s team hosted Spokane Falls Wednesday, finding themselves down 38-31 through the first half. The Sasquatch connected on 10 three-pointers throughout the game, shooting 48.1% from the floor and leaving with a 70-54 win over Big Bend. 

Second-chance points were a key factor for Treasure Valley being able to take a 38-22 lead after the first half of Saturday’s game, recording 11 first-half offensive rebounds. While the Vikings held the Chukars to 18 points in the second half, the deficit was too much to overcome as Big Bend fell 56-48.

Big Bend’s women’s team held a 16-11 advantage through the first quarter of Wednesday’s game against Spokane Falls, but a 23-point Sasquatch second frame allowed Spokane Falls to take a 34-26 lead at the break, later winning 65-58 after a balanced second half.

"We had another strong start to our game, and I'm super pleased that we came out strong,” Big Bend women’s basketball coach Preston Wilks said. “However, the second quarter was the quarter that turned the momentum as we struggled to finish and were out-rebounded and they on the other hand were hotter than a firecracker and owned the glass."

On Saturday against Treasure Valley, Big Bend jumped out to a 19-12 lead after the first quarter, later holding a 39-29 lead at halftime. Treasure Valley outscored Big Bend 24-8 in the third quarter, leading to a 65-61 loss for the Vikings.
