Wahluke shows appreciation for bus wreck response

MATTAWA — First responders, Wahluke School District personnel and children involved in a bus collision Jan. 22 were recognized for their response to the incident during halftime of the Wahluke-La Salle boys basketball game Feb. 8.
Seventeen students were on the bus, driven by Marco Bravo Guerrero, when it was hit by a pickup in icy and foggy conditions. The collision knocked the bus onto its side.
“Their response was remarkable. The driver evacuated everyone safely, while others provided assistance and support. Staff, administrators and EMTs were quick to help,” according to an announcement read during the presentation.
“The Wahluke family shows that every member matters,” it said.
