COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Davidson does it again, runs fifth-best 800 in Utah State history

I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | February 15, 2024 1:00 AM

Hannah Davidson, Utah State Track & Field

After running the ninth-best mile time in Utah State history back in late January, Sandpoint’s Hannah Davidson has cracked the record books once again. At the Don Kirby Elite Invitational held Feb. 9-10 at the University of New Mexico, Davidson ran the fifth-best indoor 800-meter in Aggie history with a time of 2:10.32, almost a full second better than her previous best.

Davidson’s record-breaking 800 time was good enough for eighth out of 46 runners. Next up for Utah State is the Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships set to be held Feb. 22-24 at the University of New Mexico, where Davidson will look to continue to make history.

Connor Alexander, Lewis-Clark State College Track & Field

Bonners Ferry’s Connor Alexander continues to improve for the Warriors as the season progresses. After improving his 3000-meter time by six seconds three weeks ago at the Lauren McCluskey Invitational, Alexander broke his own personal best again, this time by three seconds after running a 9:00.36 at the 3rd Whitworth Invitational held Feb. 9-10 at The Podium in Spokane.

Alexander finished 34th amongst a stacked 60-runner field. Lewis-Clark State College returns to action this Saturday at the Eastern Oregon University Last Chance Invite.
