What a refreshing election letter I read Feb. 1. The writer started with how her house is divided and that she was a Republican and her husband was a Democrat. She had hosted a “meet and greet” for Jim Woodward. She then described why Jim would be an excellent choice for the Idaho Senate.  

Why was this letter so refreshing? Not once did she mention who Jim was running against and, better yet, she did not attack his opponents with downgrading remarks on why you should not vote for them. She emphasized how we should all vote based on facts over fiction and why the candidate’s character, voting record, and position on issues in our community are important.

So the next time you sit down to send a letter in to rip someone running for office, follow JoLen Everhart's example get to know your candidates, and vote fact over fiction.
