COEUR d’ALENE — A Valentine’s dinner at the Lake City Center was rich with love and donations.

About 70 people attended the sold-out Feb. 13 event that included food, auctions, drawings and prizes. It raised about $6,500.

Dave Smith Motors donated $25,000 to the center for the Meals on Wheels program and $780 worth of designer sunglasses to give away at dinner.

Marlys Silva, administrative director, said it was not only a great time, but a chance to highlight center activities and all it offers.

“We got to show the community what we’re about and who we are,” Silva said.

The Lake City Center recently took over delivery of about 1,400 meals a month to seniors in the Post Falls area.

That means the center’s Meals on Wheels volunteers will be delivering more than 5,000 meals a month.

She said that adding Post Falls seniors to their delivery service was a “huge undertaking,” but one they were glad to do.

“When people know there’s a need, they’re more apt to give more,” Silva said.

Other donors to the fundraiser were Dody Johnson and Rylee Bickston Wanderlust Northwest Photobooth; Black Sheep; Candle in the Woods; Lola Wine Lounge; Lynda Clark; K. Fritz Massage; Kristi Colacurcio, Windermere Post Falls office; Pilgrims; Cracker Barrel and Beverly Roots Baklava.
